How to Freeze a Row in Google Sheets

In Google Sheets, you can freeze rows and columns so that they always remain visible when you scroll through the sheet. This can be helpful if you use the sheet to track data such as a budget, schedule, or to-do list.

To freeze a row in Google Sheets, follow these steps:

  1. Open the Google Sheets spreadsheet in which you want to freeze the row.
  2. Select the row you want to freeze.
  3. Click View > Freeze.
  4. Select the 1 row option.

The frozen row will appear at the top of the sheet, even if you scroll down.

To freeze multiple rows, follow these steps:

  1. Select the rows you want to freeze.
  2. Click View > Freeze.
  3. Select the Up to row N option, where N is the number of the last row you want to freeze.

To unfreeze a row, follow these steps:

  1. Click View > Freeze.
  2. Select the Unfreeze option.

Additional tips for freezing rows in Google Sheets:

  • To freeze a row and column at the same time, select the row and column you want to freeze. Then click View > Freeze > 1 column and 1 row.
  • To freeze all rows or columns, click View > Freeze > All rows or All columns.
  • To freeze a row or column using the keyboard, press Ctrl + Shift + F.
